A few years after returning to the Church, she heard God calling her, so she left her job in Silicon Valley to join the Daughters of St. Paul. She is the author of The Prodigal You Love: Inviting Loved Ones Back to the Church . She now lives in Boston where she serves at the Pauline Publishing House in the Editorial Department. Father Ed Riley, Institute of Jesus the Priest Father Ed is a priest for the Archdiocese of Boston and currently serves on the faculty of Saint John's Seminary as Dean of Men and Director of Pastoral Formation. Fr. Ed first met the Pauline Family as a college student, being invited to provide a voice for the Daughters of St. Paul animated videos. He eventually met the Sister Disciples during his Seminary formation and the Society of St. Paul as a newly ordained priest. Father Ed made his First Profession into the Institute of Jesus the Priest on November 8, 2015, becoming the second Institute member in the United States. He very much enjoys the Pauline charisma and spirituality, as well as reaping the benefits of such a large religious family! You can find Father Ed on Twitter: @rileysjs Sr. Mary Joan Baldino, Daughter of Saint Paul Sister Mary Joan Baldino has been a Daughter of Saint Paul for over 67 years! She was born in Sardinia, Italy, where she entered the community. In 1952, after only six months as a professed sister, she was sent a missionary to the United States, though she had never studied English. Sister Mary Joan loves the Pauline spirituality and mission: "I am so grateful for my vocation. What I give is nothing compared to what I receive every day: from the congregation, from the sisters, from the young ones. I never have time to get old!" Throughout the province (which stretches across the USA and Canada), Sr. Mary Joan is the first to know what the Pope has said or done at any given moment; if any sister needs to know something about the Pope, she calls Sr. Mary Joan. Her love for the Pope is part of the Pauline charism: "We have to love the Pope. Our Founder, Blessed James Alberione, sent the first Paulines to Rome so that we would be close to Peter. The Pope is my thing." Jeffrey E. Mathews, MD, Pauline Cooperator Jeffrey E. Mathews, MD, has been a Pauline Cooperator since October 11, 2009. He and his wife, Carolyn, live in St. Louis, MO, and are blessed with three sons and two daughters (two out of college, two in college, and one in high school). Dr. Mathews, a gastroenterologist, is trying really hard to improve his Spanish for his annual medical mission trip to Honduras. Sr. Diane Leonard Kraus, Daughter of Saint Paul Sr. Diane grew up in California and joined the Daughters of St. Paul soon after graduating from high school. She believes her vocation comes from God: "I was very shy in my childhood, and so I believe it is God who placed the vocation in me, because I loved the part of our work about being a missionary, but wasn't sure how I was going to go about actually meeting and talking to people in our media mission. But I trusted that it would work out. And God has indeed made it work! My deep shyness disappeared because I know who I am announcing—Jesus Christ, not myself." Sr. Diane likes to travel and feels God gave her the "bonus" of performing the Pauline mission in many cities, meeting many people all over the USA. She enjoys reading biographies, learning about history, and playing card games and board games. Santi Aventurado, Institute of Our Lady of the Annunciation Santi Aventurado lives out her vocation to holiness in the consecrated life of the Secular Institute of Our Lady of the Annunciation, following Christ through the three evangelical counsels in the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. She loves to sing, and is a member of the choir at her parish. When Santi sings, she feels she is expressing her prayers through song, and feels connected to God whenever she sings to God and to his Mother. Lourdes Urbano, Pauline Cooperator Lourdes Urbano has done just about everything during her 20+ years as a Pauline Cooperator: from stuffing envelopes, packing up books, staffing book displays and even door to door evangelization in a nearby parish. She describes her experience of going door to door: "It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done. First, because you never know how you’ll be received and second, because I’m really introverted and have difficulty at times keeping a conversation going, never mind starting one. Thank God--and I really mean that,--that the sisters have such an ease with people. They can talk to anyone." Currently, Lourdes evangelizes through social media, especially Twitter. She has met many wonderful people through the years as a Pauline Cooperator. DAUGHTERS OF ST.
